However, let’s be honest. In order for you to travel, you can’t just have the will to do it. You also have to have the way…and by way, I mean cold, hard cash!
So what do you do if you want to travel but don’t want to break your budget for the third time in a row?
Then here’s what I want you to keep in mind:
You can learn how to travel at any budget.
Let me guess, your vibe is ‘nice-but-don’t-break-the-bank’? You can explore this beautiful world year-round…you just have to be creative about it.
Alright sis, we’re going to break it down.
You’re all about balance — saving where it counts, but not completely sacrificing the experience.
Top Tips:
- Fly smart.
- Use Google Flights to find the cheapest dates and set flight alerts. Run your search in INCOGNITO mode. If you don’t know how to browse incognito/in private mode, check out one of the links below ⬇️
- Safari Incognito
- Chrome Incognito
- Explorer Incognito
- Firefox Incognito
- Look “everywhere.”
- Try Skyscanner and search “Everywhere.” You can literally put in your home airport and tell it to show you all flights from there to everywhere in any given month/time period. For instance, when I asked for prices for flights from MIA in the month of May, I was able to find roundtrip tickets to NY starting at $67 roundtrip! If you skip those daily Starbucks drinks, you’ll have that $67 in no time! 🙃
- Stay smart.
- Book boutique hotels or Airbnbs with kitchens so you can cook a few meals and splurge on a couple nice dinners. Use Booking.com for flexible, affordable stays.
- Travel off-season.
- I know, I know, you can’t help but drool at your friend’s pics of her summer vacation at that fancy resort. If you’re on a budget, look for trips during their off season. For example, when looking at all-inclusive resorts in Cancun, depending on the month I looked, I found prices ranging from $635 per person (including the flights and hotel), to $997 per person. That is a difference of nearly $400!
- Use cash-back travel sites.

Keeping all of these tips and tricks in mind, you can easily start to travel on a budget while also getting to enjoy special experiences like all-inclusive resorts/hotels. Add a Bible and a journal? You’re golden.
Let’s Bring It Back to Purpose
Now to be clear, don’t let your girlfriend’s Instagram page fool you. Travel isn’t just about vanity, showing off, or aesthetics. It’s about encountering God in new places, stretching your faith, experiencing new cultures, food, and sights, and realizing how big the world is outside of your small community/network.
The Bible says, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it…” – Psalm 24:1
That includes Paris. Sweden. Cape Town. Thailand. And the nearest National Park.
You don’t have to wait for a man to have fun, see the world, or discover your likes/dislikes. God is not waiting on your relationship status. So why in the world should you???
Final Reminder
Whether you’re pinching pennies or planning luxury picnics under the Eiffel Tower, there’s a way for you to go.
Be intentional. Ask God for wisdom. In addition, remember—you’re not just chasing passport stamps. You’re collecting stories. You’re stepping out in faith. You’re chasing purpose. So go as far as your budget — or your prayers — will take you. And remember, God is with you.
