‘Was Blind But Now I See’: How to Guide to Help Discern Between Godly & ‘Godly on Paper’

He leads worship. He has a Bible verse in his bio. He prays before meals. His Spotify is full of Maverick City and Elevation Worship.

But the moment you ask about emotional availability, long-term vision, or what he’s actually looking for in a relationship—suddenly, he’s Jonah hopping a boat to avoid commitment.

Sis, just because he’s Christian doesn’t mean he’s Christlike.

A man can know all the right words, lift his hands in church, and still leave you confused, drained, and questioning where you stand. Faith isn’t just about what someone says—it’s about how they live.

Here’s what to look for:
✅ Does his life reflect the fruits of the Spirit? (Galatians 5:22–23) Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control—not just on Sunday, but every day.

✅ Does he walk in integrity when no one’s watching? Does his private life match his public persona, or is his faith just for show?

✅ Is he consistent in character—or just consistent on Sundays? Anyone can put on a good front for a couple of hours at church. What happens when the lights are off, the cameras aren’t rolling, and the accountability isn’t there?

✅ Does he honor your heart and your time? Or does he leave you overthinking, second-guessing, and waiting for clarity that never comes?

Because listen, sis—Satan quoted scripture too. Knowing the Bible isn’t the same as living it.

Don’t ignore your gut. And definitely don’t ignore the Holy Spirit.

If his words say “godly man,” but his actions say “confusion, inconsistency, and emotional unavailability”—believe the actions. A Christ-centered relationship doesn’t leave you anxious; it brings clarity, peace, and mutual effort.

📣 Forward this to your accountability partner for your next “do you think he’s the one?” moment. Because godly wisdom > wishful thinking.
