[Note to the reader: This was scheduled to post in January…it didn’t! #wordpressproblems 😂 So I’m posting it now…]
In honor of the New Year, I wanted to share a blog that’s meant to inspire you to move a little differently in 2026 when it comes to your dating habits. But in order to do that, I have to reveal something that may be a little embarrassing.
Can I be honest? I am one of those people who may feed a stray cat when it comes across my doorstep #dontjudgeme!
I can’t help it! I feel sorry for them. They’re tired, they’re wet. They’re scared. And often times, they are super, super hungry.
The moment they hear your footsteps coming, or your hand turning the doorknob, they scratch against the door, jump up and down, pant incessantly as they wait for whatever you’re willing to give them.
You want to know another thing I’ve noticed? It doesn’t matter how many times you feed them. They always respond as if they’re not entirely sure that you will feed them that day. They follow you around, meow (or bark), and plead as if they’re not quite sure you’ll have mercy on them this time.
Sis, can I start by reminding you of something gentle but true?
You Are Not a Stray. You Are a Daughter of the King.
I want to dismantle that quiet lie that bubbles up in moments of loneliness — the one that whispers that God has forgotten about you and you’ll just have to find a spouse by yourself.
Sis, you are not a stray wandering the streets hoping someone might toss you affection (or a ring for that matter).
You are a daughter of the King: and not metaphorically speaking either. Your Father is God. Which means your identity is royal. Your value is inherent. Your story is intentional.
- You don’t have to wonder whether God is going to take care of you.
- You don’t have to beg or whine for him to “throw you a bone.”
God’s got you, sis!
Sis, you are not a stray wandering the streets hoping someone might toss you affection (or a ring for that matter). You're a daughter of the King. #forsinglewomenonly Share on XAnd because God is omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (all-knowing), and omnipresent (everywhere all at once), He does not rely on luck, coincidence, or “hopefully things line up” to ensure your needs are met.
He is:
- Strategic,
- Purposeful, and
- Deeply invested in the details of your love story.
God Is Not Only Writing Your Love Story — He’s Writing His Best Work
Remember, marriage involves two people — not just one.
God is not just considering your life, your timing, your process, and your growth. He is also considering your future husband’s healing, his maturity, his development, his alignment, and his purpose.
Have you ever considered that sometimes, while you’re poking God to hurry up and match you with your husband, that God is simultaneously poking your husband in the back to get his things in order?! (And of course, the reverse can also be true!).
Let’s be honest — generally speaking, men do not mature as early as women do. Your husband may be in a season right now where God is chiseling, shaping, and transforming him because God refuses to hand you someone who would mishandle or fumble you.
That is not a delay.
That is protection.
Why Being Single Is Better Than Being in the Wrong Relationship
Now let’s go deep because this needs to be said: The wrong relationship will cost you more than loneliness ever could.
Being single (rather than in the wrong relationship) protects you from:
- Emotional Abuse:
A man who builds your confidence only to tear it down when you no longer revolve around his needs. - Verbal Attacks:
“Why are you so sensitive?”
“You always make things a big deal.”
“I didn’t mean it like that.”
Words that bruise the heart and numb the spirit. - Psychological Manipulation:
Gaslighting that makes you question your sanity, your memory, your worth, and eventually your identity. - Responsibility Without Partnership:
Carrying the household, the finances, the emotional labor, the domestic labor, and the relationship growth all by yourself — because he can’t (or worse, won’t!). - Spiritual Disconnection:
Being tied to someone who resists prayer (“you’re praying too long”), dislikes church (“the game is on then”), or pulls you away from God, leaving you spiritually lonely. - Health issues:
Nothing is worse than giving your body to someone who doesn’t care about protecting it. The wrong man may cheat on you exposing you to various STDs or health conditions. - Financial Instability:
Taking on his debt, covering his bills, bailing him out, or being pressured to maintain a lifestyle he doesn’t contribute to. - Trauma Bonding:
The addictive, confusing cycle of affection followed by mistreatment that keeps you trapped in a toxic dynamic (like a gambling addict). - Wasted Years:
Time spent trying to change, fix, motivate, or stabilize someone who has zero intention of growing. - Loneliness While in a Relationship:
The worst kind of loneliness — lying next to someone while feeling invisible, unheard, unappreciated, unloved, and unsupported.
If you’re single and free of these things, you are not empty. You are FULL of peace, calm, and tranquility. It is God shielding your heart from destruction you never needed to experience.

Your singleness isn’t a gap: it’s provision. It’s God keeping you whole while He’s preparing you and your future husband for something beautifully sacred and holy.
Share this with a sister who needs to be reminded of her royal identity. #forsinglewomenonly
